Chapter 4 Why You Run Away
"Hani!" he shouted coldly, staring at the two people's entangled hands with a trace of cruelty in his eyes, and then he spoke again with a wave of venom, "Can one sentence make you panic and damage the company's image so much?"
The secretary immediately stopped the action of driving people away.
"Go back and correct your attitude. I want to see your self-review after my next video conference. If you can't do it, pack up and leave." He said coldly, then turned and walked back to the office.
The secretary immediately went back to write a self-review.
Lilly hurriedly caught up with Ethan but was stopped by Ziyan as soon as she reached the door. She shouted anxiously, "Ethan, listen to me first! Do you know the chairman of Liney Group?"
Ethan stopped and turned his head to look at her, his eyes were cold, "Miss Johnson, I don't know you well, I have no obligation to answer your question."
Ethan's words did not contain any anger, but completely blocked the way and embarrassed her on the spot.
Then he signaled Ziyan to close the office door. Ziyan nodded and reached out to close the door, but she didn't expect that the moment she closed the door, Lilly used her body to block it. With a bang, the door hit her firmly.
Ziyan was startled and hurriedly opened the door to help her, "Lilly, are you okay?"
"It's okay," Lilly rubbed her arm, with a triumphant smile on her face, and squeezed into the office through the open door, "Ethan, I heard that you know the director of Liney's, you are very familiar with each other and have a good relationship, is it true?"
Ethan's lips were pursed into a cold and hard straight line. He turned around and pressed the cigarette butt into the ashtray, put out the cigarette, and then sat back in the office chair, fingers clasped on the table, and said, "You only have ten minutes."
"Lilly, why do you ask the director of Liney's?" Suddenly, Ziyan's voice came, she took Lilly's arm, and asked kindly, "I have met the director of Liney's once or twice, he is a grandfather in his seventies or eighties, how do you know him?"
"My grandmother is the chairman of the pharmaceutical chain. I'm sorry I didn't tell you about this before." Lilly said and secretly glanced at Ethan. Seeing his eyes dimmed, turned away quickly, and continued, "Grandma fell ill a year ago, and her condition has worsened recently.
She has been bedridden. The company is reshuffled, the stock market is turbulent, and many companies that invested in Johnson's enterprise are withdrawing their investment. Now my uncle is in power and has saved part of it, but the other part depends on the director of Liney's enterprise.
As long as he doesn't withdraw his investment, Johnson's enterprise can survive, but we have tried many ways, and the director of Liney's enterprise is unwilling to give in. Later I heard..."
Lilly subconsciously glanced at Ethan again and was frozen back again. She bit her lip and continued, "Later I heard that Ethan and the director of Liney's enterprise have a deep friendship..." Lilly gritted her teeth met his cold eyes again, and pleaded in a low voice, "Ethan, can you please consider our past friendship and persuade the old director of Liney's enterprise to change his mind and not withdraw his investment?"
The office was silent for a while.
"Ziyan, it's getting late. You should report to the crew first. Let the driver drive you there." He leaned back and leaned on the cushion. His voice was cold but could not be refused.
Ziyan had no choice but to say "oh" and walked out of the president's office obediently.
"Lilly."
He spoke first, just like when he was in college, every time he was annoyed by her, he called her name in a serious tone and told her not to make trouble again.
Lilly pressed the left side of her chest, and the frequency of the beating there seemed to be constantly out of beat. Before she had time to be happy, whether this sound meant that their relationship had eased, she heard him throw out the next sentence.
"Don't you think you are shameless?"
This sentence was like a bolt from the blue, hitting Lilly's heart and breaking it into countless pieces. In the past, no matter how shamelessly she pestered him, he would never say such hurtful words.
Lilly couldn't understand and was scolded for no reason. Her voice was stuck in her throat for a while before she asked, "I don't understand...what does it mean?"
He took a sip of the cold coffee on the table, then looked at her, his eyes revealing a strong mockery, and said word by word, "You come to talk about friendship with me now? Who was the person who left without a word back then? Why didn't you care about friendship at that time?"
"Uh..." Lilly looked at the ceiling and then at the floor. He was asking her to explain, but this matter really couldn't be explained. She couldn't say that you already had a partner, and she would be struck by lightning if she forced herself into being the third party, so she ran away in disgrace?
It would be too embarrassing to tell anyone about this, so she absolutely couldn't tell anyone!
She immediately shook her head like a rattle, trying to find an excuse, "It happened suddenly, and I left in a hurry..."
"In a hurry?" he sneered with a cold face, "It seems that making a call or sending a text message will consume Miss Johnson's life, which is indeed very hurried."
