Chapter 5 You Want to Imprison Me
In an instant, her face turned extremely pale. She suddenly looked up, her body trembling slightly, and saw that face—five years had passed, yet it was still so familiar.
"Joshua, you..."
Ava turned her head in panic toward the two children who had already entered the boarding bridge. Cleo was anxiously trying to rush toward her, but the calmer Finn held her back.
Ava watched as Finn subtly shook his head. Finn had always been alert and smart. After glancing at Ava with concern a few times, he immediately led Cleo into the crowd and hid in the cabin.
Fortunately, Joshua's attention was entirely focused on her, and he didn't notice the children.
Seeing this, Ava's anxious heart eased slightly, but Joshua's eyes were staring at her darkly.
Ava gathered her courage to look back at Joshua. He was still the same as five years ago—sharp, well-defined features, perfect without a single flaw, deep eyes like dark pools, his whole being radiating a natural arrogance and nobility, with an overwhelming presence.
Joshua looked at Ava, whom he hadn't seen in five years. She wore a white dress that wrapped around her slender figure. Tall and graceful, her slim legs were exposed.
Her delicate face was even more beautiful and lively than five years ago, with a strong sense of stubbornness. Her beautiful eyes, however, were excessively cold—a look he had never seen from her before.
Standing so close to each other, no emotion could escape the other's eyes.
Joshua's heart was sharply pierced by her gaze, and an inexplicable anger grew fiercer.
"Ava, you're really something. You hid for five years, and you're still trying to run?" Joshua said angrily, roughly pulling Ava out of the line without any gentleness.
"Let go of me! Joshua, we're already divorced. Are you sick? Where I go is none of your business!"
"None of my business? You ran away for five years while pregnant with my child. Don't I even have the right to ask? I'm asking you—where's the child? Where did you hide the child from back then?" Joshua grabbed Ava's chin.
Ava winced in pain and slapped Joshua's hand away without hesitation, but still couldn't break free from his grip. She struggled fiercely, and when she couldn't break free, she glared at Joshua in frustration.
"Joshua, this is ridiculous. You were the one who didn't want the child back then, and now you're the one looking for the child. What's wrong? Can't Mia give you a child?"
"You!" What Ava said made him furious, but he couldn't refute a single word. He was so angry he wanted to strangle Ava right there.
Ava sneered coldly. "If I hadn't left back then, should I have waited for you to force me to the hospital and make me abort my child? Joshua, I will never let you find the child. Rest assured, you didn't want the child then, and now I will never let the child acknowledge you!"
Joshua stared hard at Ava's face. It was still the same gentle and virtuous face from five years ago, but now it was sharp-tongued, every word cutting deep.
Joshua's narrow eyes narrowed, and an uncontrollable anger surged in his chest.
"Joshua." Hayden rushed over and saw the two of them glaring at each other with such intense pressure that his whole body trembled.
He felt that if they had knives in their hands right now, they could stab each other to death.
"Joshua, Ava, calm down. Let's talk this out nicely, there's no..." Hayden paused as Joshua's gaze swept over like a knife. His scalp tingled, and he obediently shut his mouth.
"Let go of me." Ava struggled. "Joshua, let go of me, you psycho."
Joshua nodded coldly.
"So you want to be stubborn, huh? Ava, let's see how long you can keep this up. Take her back and lock her up. When she's willing to tell me where the child is, then let her out." Joshua ordered coldly.
As soon as Joshua finished speaking, a crisp slap followed.
The next moment, the entire space fell terrifyingly silent.
A deathly atmosphere hung in the air.
At this moment, Hayden wished he could disappear on the spot.
Ava couldn't take it anymore. All the anger and grievances she'd held in over the years were released in that slap.
How could he be so shameless? What right did he have to imprison her? What qualification did he have to imprison her?
Joshua's head tilted slightly. Ava actually dared to hit him!
"You want to imprison me? Joshua, you bastard! If you dare imprison me, I'll never let this go."
Joshua's tongue touched the somewhat numb wall of his mouth, and a dangerous atmosphere filled the air around them.
Joshua suddenly laughed coldly.
Joshua raised his hand and gripped the back of Ava's neck, forcibly pressing her in front of him.
The handsome face suddenly so close made Ava's heart tremble violently. She forced herself to stay calm, her hands hanging at her sides clenching and unclenching.
"Ava, we're not done!"
With that, Joshua threw her to the ground.
Yes, threw her!
Ava lost her balance and stumbled back a few steps, her back hitting the railing beside her. The pain made her gasp.
Hayden's heart jumped, afraid they would start fighting on the spot. Seeing Ava fall to the ground, he instinctively wanted to help her up, but Joshua stopped him with a look. He immediately withdrew his hand and stood aside, not daring to breathe.
"Take her away." He barked!
In the end, Ava couldn't resist Joshua and was forcibly taken to the car.
Cleo didn't dare cry out loud. Ava had said they couldn't let Joshua find them. She was afraid of causing more trouble for Ava. Her bright, watery eyes were already filled with tears, but she stubbornly didn't make a sound. Only after everyone left did she burst into loud sobs.
"...Bad man! Daddy is a bad man. He bullied Mommy and took Mommy away. Finn, Finn, Mommy was taken away by bad Daddy..."
Finn was extremely calm at this moment, his young eyes full of determination. He held Cleo in his arms the way Ava usually comforted her. "Cleo can't cry. Cleo, Mommy said that when we cry, Mommy's heart aches. We need to figure out a way to save Mommy quickly."
Cleo immediately stopped crying. Her tear-filled eyes looked at Finn pitifully yet hopefully. "Finn, do you have a plan?"
"Let's go home first. We need Ms. Taylor's help."
"Okay, I'll do whatever you say."
