Chapter 3 That Woman is Ava?
Ava rushed out of the car. She had just finished surgery today and hadn't even had time to catch her breath when the housekeeper called saying the two kids were missing. She was scared to death.
"Mommy." Cleo happily rushed into Ava's arms. "Mommy, Mommy, I missed you so much."
Ava crouched down and helplessly pulled both children into her arms. On the way here, she had been fuming, thinking she would definitely teach these two little runaways a good lesson this time.
But Ava couldn't resist when these two kids acted cute. All her anger vanished instantly, and now she could only try to keep a stern face.
"You two ran off like that. Do you know how worried I was?"
"Mommy, I'm sorry, I was wrong." Cleo pouted apologetically, looking adorable and cute. She even kissed Ava on the cheek, making it impossible for Ava to stay mad at all.
"Mommy, it's all my fault, not Cleo's. Please don't be angry anymore, okay?"
"So will you two run off again next time?" Ava's heart had already melted completely, but she couldn't let these two little troublemakers off too easily, or next time they'd really be running around outside while she chased after them.
"No, no more." Cleo waved her little hands.
"Okay, then tell me, what were you two just doing?"
Cleo's bright eyes looked at Finn, and Finn squinted and raised his eyebrows, giving Cleo signals.
"Finn, Cleo, good children don't lie."
Under pressure from both Finn and Ava, Cleo's cute little face was filled with conflict. Cleo lowered her head and said very quietly, "I can't say."
Ava softened her voice and asked patiently, "Why not?"
Cleo pursed her little lips. "Finn won't let me say."
Finn was completely speechless.
"Why won't Finn let Cleo say?" Ava looked at Finn, then at Cleo.
"Because Finn went to teach Daddy a lesson for Mommy..."
Finn was completely speechless.
Ava gasped when she heard this and continued asking. As Cleo talked, she spilled everything.
Ava's heart was pounding as she listened.
How could these two kids be so bold as to mess with Joshua?
After she went abroad that year, she gave birth to Finn and Cleo. She had just returned a week ago.
Joshua wouldn't allow her to keep the children, so she didn't dare let Joshua know about Finn and Cleo's existence. She had hoped to never cross paths with Joshua again in this lifetime, but these two kids just had to go provoke him.
Meanwhile, the Thomas Group's network system team had already tracked down and located the person behind this prank.
"Mr. Thomas, we found them." Samuel showed Joshua the location. The positioning showed this person was right downstairs at the Thomas Group.
Joshua frowned slightly.
"Let me see." Hayden leaned over. "Holy crap, doing this right under our noses, that takes guts. Joshua, don't worry, I'll definitely catch this person for you..."
Joshua clenched his jaw and looked up. Hayden slowly moved his gaze from the locator to Joshua's face.
Joshua, can you please not look at me like that...
"Still laughing?" Joshua's tone was flat and calm, but Hayden could hear the towering rage contained within.
He could guarantee that if he grinned at Joshua one more time right now, he'd be kicked out.
"I'll shut up."
Hayden made a zipping motion across his mouth and stood aside, behaving himself.
Joshua turned his cold gaze back to the screen, his sharp eyes narrowing slightly. What nerve, pulling pranks right under his nose.
Joshua stood up. He wanted to see for himself what kind of person this was!
Seeing there was a good show coming, Hayden, who never minded making things bigger, followed closely. "Joshua, I'm coming too."
Ava knew the children meant well, and she couldn't bear to scold them, but Finn had provoked Joshua. With Joshua's capabilities, he would find them very soon, and they were still downstairs at the Thomas Group.
Ava felt a strong sense of crisis.
Thinking this, Ava couldn't help but look up at the Thomas Group. The next second, she saw a tall figure walking toward the entrance. He had an air of noble elegance, extremely noticeable in the crowd, followed by a large group of people, looking aggressive.
Joshua!
After five years, Ava could still recognize Joshua at a glance.
Ava's heart suddenly contracted, alarm bells ringing in her mind.
Run, quick!
Her heart was racing with panic, but she remained extremely calm. She picked up the two children, put them in the back seat, and immediately got into the driver's seat herself.
Finn looked seventy to eighty percent like Joshua. If they met, he would definitely be recognized.
Joshua's cold gaze swept over an extremely familiar figure. His dark eyes narrowed slightly, and he couldn't help but quicken his pace.
Just as he reached the entrance, he saw a woman's figure hurriedly getting into a car.
That woman's figure...
Ava?
