Chapter 77

Glenda’s POV

Emoni and I got dressed in club-appropriate attire. She packed a bag in case she decided to get into the water tower again. Matt wore a plain black shirt rolled up at the sleeves and black slacks. Felix was dressed similarly.

We rode to Club Heaven together.

“If anything happens, call me,” Matt said, “You both have your phones on you, don’t you?”

Emoni grinned, “Of course.”

“There’s an extra car parked in the private parking lot in case you need it, keys are in the office, but I’m under the impression neither of you knows how to drive.”

“You’d been wrong,” Emoni said proudly. “Also, that’s what the guards are for, aren’t they?”

“Yes.”

We pulled up behind Club Heaven. Emoni and I got out of the car and entered the building through the staff entrance. I waved them away and headed to the staff area to set her bag down and greet everyone on shift that night. I watched Emoni chat with them with ease and did my best to exude the same amount of confidence.

“We’re short a bartender for one of the VIP rooms,” Emoni said, “And a runner.”

“I don’t mind,” I volunteered. “I’m not afraid of some stairs.”

She chuckled, “Fine. You’ll need the right outfit though.”

Hot shorts and fishnets weren’t the worst things I had ever worn. With a bit of makeup and the staff apron later, I was ready. Emoni directed us to where everyone would be stationed and that she’d be floating around to assist as needed. She got the party starters out on the floor, though I doubted we’d need them.

I had never worked such a humdrum job before. It was a bit exciting to be in the club as part of the team that kept the party going. People poured in, going straight to the bar. I ran drinks to almost every booth, chatting with the party goers as needed and taking orders.

“So, is this your new job?” I turned around to see Andrew looking down at me.

I hadn’t expected him to be here but I plastered on a smile and tried to behave normally.

“Temporarily. I’m just helping out. I don’t have the chops for management just yet. Can I get you something to drink?”

“I’ll follow you.”

I didn’t want that, but I could refuse him. I weaved through the crowd towards the nearest bar, but a hand wrapped around my arm, dragging me off the path. Before I could fight, a hand clamped around my mouth and I was pulled down the corridor. I scrambled, trying to fight, but the thump of music and throngs of people made it impossible to get anyone’s attention.

I saw Emoni walking nearby and overturned a cart of cups and glass as I fought.

She turned her head. Her eyes widened, and I knew she was my only hope.

I saw her lips move before I was dragged out of the back door.

Whoever had grabbed me knew more about Club Heaven’s layout than should have been possible.

Andrew had been just behind me. He came to mind first and fear went through me. Maybe he’d recognized me. Maybe Jay had found out that I was alive and I would never be seen again. As I tried to get free, I heard Grace’s voice calling after me.

I went flying and landed with a thud against soft leather seats before Andrew climbed in after me. He struck me across the face before closing the door behind him. Tires screeched as I reared up trying to get free.

Pain exploded across my face again, and I collapsed on the floor of the car. Someone kicked me hard in my stomach before dragging me up to sit beside Andrew.

“Hello, Glenda.” I looked up to see Jay looking at me. Justin was seated beside him looking triumphant.

Andrew sat beside me with a sly grin.

“Persistent,” Andrew said easily. “Stupid.”

I froze looking at him, “What?”

“Did you think a change in hair color and a mask was going to keep you a secret?” Andrew asked, his eyes wide and a little insane. I cringed back against the door, “You smell the same as you did then.”

He licked his lips and leered at me. My stomach churned.

“Search her.”

“Don’t touch me!”

I turned away from Andrew, but he laughed, grabbing me and sliding his hands over my body, restraining me easily no matter how I struggled. The world was flickering around me as I kicked.

It felt so familiar, some time at Midnight I didn’t want to remember. I tried to shove the memory away as he pulled my phone out of my pocket and continued to feel me up before shoving me back into my seat.

Andrew picked up my phone and threw it out the window carelessly.

Jay looked at me, “How did you manage to escape, little Glenda?”

“Don’t you dare call me that! You… You betrayed your alpha.”

He scoffed, “Adam wasn’t any more alpha than a kid ruling over a playground. He was always so content with his little piece of land and that stupid country way of business. He brought it on himself.”

It was chilling to look at him and realize that there was no regret on his face. A part of me had always hoped that he’d been forced to for some reason or another, that there was a reason for it.

My jaw trembled, “You… really mean that…”

He smirked, “The only thing I regretted was that Helen had to die too. She would have been far more useful alive.”

My eyes burned as I stared at him in shock, “Was… anything real?”

I thought of the years of sitting down at a table with him, eating meals for holidays and birthdays. The gifts and the festivals that he took us to when my parents just wanted some time alone.

How could all of it have meant nothing to him?

“Sure,” He shrugged, “I thought Adam would be smart enough… I thought Helen would take all that training and realize what an opportunity it was that they were wasting not allying with anyone, but I overestimated them both.”

He laughed, “Once I realized that neither of them was worth the time and too stupid to seize a chance, I wasted no time.”

“My dad—”

“Was weak.”

“He trusted you. My mom—Everyone trusted you.”

He grinned, “Weak.”

I shuddered and looked at Andrew who hadn’t taken his eyes off my stocking-clad legs.

“You haven’t answered me,” Jay said, “How did you make it out of Fluorite?”

I clenched my jaw, “I’m not telling you anything, traitor.”

Jay chuckled, “Cute. You think Matt is going to save you? He’s too busy probably getting head at Mordecai’s little soiree or arguing with his father and brother. It doesn’t really matter.”

He looked at Justin, “Call your little housewife and Teagan if you can. We should be back at your house soon enough.”

“Teagan?” I asked, “What does she have to do with this?”

“Dumb, weak, full of herself. She’s the scapegoat.” He grinned, “If I can’t get the Blooming Vibes recipes then Blue Ice will have to be a peace offering. Now that I have you, I’ll have them both in hand soon enough.”

“What makes you think I have them?” I asked, “I’m not a doctor.”

His eyes narrowed, “Don’t make this more difficult than it needs to be, Glenda. It won’t turn out good for you.”

The drive felt long as I tried to think. Emoni had seen me getting taken. She would have called Matt, but would he find me? Could he find me? Alyssa growled low and fearful. We had to be ready to run at the least chance, but I didn’t know when that would be.

The car stopped and Andrew took firm hold of my arm, dragging me out of the car before forcing me up against the car.

The hard line of his cock pressed against me as he forced my arms behind my back. Something thin and tight wrapped around my wrists and pulled tight.

“I’d almost prefer it if you refused,” he groaned in my ear, rolling his hips against me. “Everyone knows the only big about Matt is his spending limit.”

“More than you can say,” I said. He growled and pulled me away from the car.

“We’ll see if you can say that while I’m plowing you into the carpet.”

I retched as he dragged me into the house. Chloe opened the door with her eyes cast down. I couldn’t catch her eye to figure out what she was thinking and if she would help me. Andrew threw me onto a couch in a room with no windows.

“Get us some drinks, doll.”

“Of course, Daddy.”

Jay laughed, “Wonder if you could teach Andrew how to train a whore like that.”

Andrew laughed, “I prefer a bit of fight.”

I reared up and spit in his face. Andrew’s eyes widened a little bit, and he struck me so hard I saw stars.

“Enough, Andrew. I need her coherent for a while yet.”
