Chapter 6 Getting his mate back

CHAPTER 6

BLAIR POINT OF VIEW.

~GETTING HIS MATE BACK~~

His campaign for being the Alpha President has just kicked off, and he's worried about getting his mate back??

What a beautiful act of self-sabotage it is from his side. At this point, no one is his enemy but himself.

Six years have passed, and I thought that maybe, just maybe, I’d move on from him. But I guess what they say is true: you can't stop loving your fated mate or your first love, no matter how many years go by.

It's been six years, and honestly, I thought I'd never have to see him again. I intentionally avoided gatherings where I’d have to see him or Ronan or any member of that pack.

After that day they tossed me out, I cut ties with them. I do not want to see any of them again. My father keeps calling, but I do not pick up any of his calls. He doesn't deserve to hear my voice. Speaking to me would be a privilege that I won't let him have because he doesn't deserve it.

If he's curious about his daughter, he should go to the internet and see recent pictures of me. If he misses me, I want him to know that I do not miss him. The same goes for everyone in their pack, including Darius, standing in front of me here.

But I guess I’m lying. Either I am, or my body is reacting on its own, just like my wolf. I can’t believe she’s forgiving him so quickly after how he betrayed us at that dinner table.

If he thinks he can walk back into my life after six years just because I have a fallout with my husband, then he’s wrong. Everything about us is over, burnt, and the ashes poured into the waters. There’s nothing here to hold on to, and I’m wondering why he’d risk his life just to come here.

Almost a thousand miles away in a pack that would assassinate you if they heard you were here, yet he still chose to come.

“Come back home with me, Blair.” He murmured against my ear, and a cold chill ran down my spine, shooting down my thighs and straight between my legs.

I held my lap together, trying not to show what his presence was doing to me.

I thought I hated this man, but it seems like my marriage is what has kept me grounded.

“Come back home with me, Blair.” He repeated, and those words brushed against my ear like a whisper—too close, too careful, yet too heavy to ignore. His voice was lower now, almost pleading, but wrapped in a kind of authority that only he carried…the exact kind that once made my wolf kneel before him without thinking.

His hands finally moved to my waist, and I swallowed hard. It was warm, though my mind kept screaming to move, but my body couldn't. I could feel every pulse of my heartbeat where his palm rested against my waist. It was ridiculous how, after six years, one touch from him could awaken every buried thing I thought I had killed inside me.

“Blairona,” he murmured again, calling my full name, and it sounded different in his mouth. Softer. Reverent. Like a memory… just how I always wanted my name to be called. Only he knew how to say my full name, even if he often shortened it.

Shortened, but not because he forgot or couldn’t remember the full name; he only shortened it after he learned it, unlike Dominus, who would always forget.

With that, Darius's hand moved upwards slowly, tracing my skin.

“Don’t,” I whispered, though it came out weak.

He didn’t move his hand. Instead, his thumb traced a slow, absent-minded circle against the side of my waist. The motion sent ripples through me—small at first, then consuming. My skin prickled in response; my breath caught somewhere between my ribs.

“You don’t belong here,” he said quietly. “Not with him. Not in this place that keeps breaking you. Come home to me. Forgive me and come home with me, please.”

“D-Darius…” My voice cracked. “Please, don’t…”

“Look at me,” he said, almost like a command.

And I did. I shouldn’t have, but I did.

The moment our eyes met, I felt it…..the same old pull. That old gravity that once made me believe the moon itself spun around us. His eyes were still that storm-gray color that never settled… eyes that once saw through every wall I built.

I could feel his breath brushing against my cheek now—warm. He was too close. Too close for someone I was supposed to hate and stay away from.

My wolf stirred, whining softly in the back of my mind, pressing against the boundaries of my control. She wanted him; she loved how close he was to me, but I hated it.

“Stop,” I whispered, though I didn’t step back. “You don’t get to come here and—”

He leaned in, his voice brushing against my skin. “I saw the news, Blair. I saw the comments and all of it. Stop trying to push me away and put all of that husband bullshit aside. I know what's happening right now.”

My chest ached a little. I should have known the world was watching us all this time.

Lying to him isn’t going to help. I need to find something else; I just know that I won't be going back to that pack with him.

His fingers slid just slightly higher, resting at the curve between my ribs and waist—still chaste, still respectful, yet it burned like fire through my veins. Then his hand grabbed my chin.

“These past years, I have learned only one thing, Blair,” he began. “I cannot exist without you in it. I revolve around you. The man I have been without you is draining and unfulfilling. You're my mate, and I need you to forgive me and give me another chance.

I demand another chance.”

“You deserve someone who will love you like the goddess meant you to be loved.”

For a second, I forgot to breathe. Every part of me wanted to melt into that voice, into that promise—but the rest of me remembered every scar he left behind at that dinner table.

That was a girl’s first heartbreak and betrayal. How could I forget it so quickly?

“I don’t belong to you anymore,” I whispered, forcing myself to slip away from his grip and walk across the room.

He let me go, but his gaze never wavered—not even once, not for a second.

“Maybe not,” he said quietly. “But tell me that, and mean it… while looking me in the eyes.”

I scoffed, glancing at him before holding tightly to my robe. I couldn't. I tried—goddess knows I tried. But my lips wouldn’t move. My body betrayed me. My heart, the same heart I swore he broke beyond repair, still beat for him.

The silence that followed was loud.

But after a while, I turned to him, summoning all the confidence I could. “Leave,” I told him, and his eyes grew wide.

“W-what?”

“Leave now.”

“I need you to leave now; it's getting late, and soon enough, words will slip out….”

“That I am here?” He cut me off. “Is that what you're scared of?”

He chuckled softly, walking across the room. He waltzed past me and settled onto the couch.

He brought out his phone, and the camera lights flashed twice—he was taking a picture.

Confused, I asked, “What are you doing?”

“Taking a picture,” he responded.

“F-for what exactly?”

His eyes darted to me, and a subtle smile settled on his lips. “I just took a picture showing my location and time, so I'm going to post it on my socials. That way, my current location would be public.”

“Are you insane?” I rushed forward, snatching the phone from his hand before the picture could upload.

“No, no, no—you can’t do that!” My voice shook. “You’ll start a war, Darius. You’ll drag both packs into chaos just because you couldn’t stay away!”

He didn’t flinch. Not even once. Instead, his gaze stayed locked on me, sickeningly calm.

“I already lived through a war, Blair,” he said quietly. “Give the phone back.”

“No,” I whispered, shaking my head.

“Then it’s simple,” he interrupted, his tone shifting as he sat up from the couch. “It’s either I post that photo and the world finds out I’m here, or you come with me.”

“W-what?” I stammered, taking a shaky step back. He can't be serious, right?

“You heard me.” His eyes darkened. “You married that man to stop a war, right? Then do it again, Blairona. Come with me—end it before it begins.”

And just like that, I'm inside an Alpha entourage, and they're driving me to the airport where I’d take the Alpha's plane flying me back to a pack I never wanted to return to.

Darius excused me, and I quickly dressed in pajamas—it's the only clothing my associates were able to get for me that night. I slipped into them, and as soon as I came out, some Alpha agents were waiting for me at the door. They all had bright smiles on their faces, and we quickly exchanged hugs before I hurried to the elevator.

Minutes later, I was out, and I quickly made my way to the car parked outside. I settled into the same car as Darius. Moments later, I rolled down the window to feel the breeze outside, but what I didn’t expect was to see the man I just saw sitting on a bike.
