Chapter 195
Sebastian
Sebastian slowly stood from his desk; he knew this was going to happen based on their history. But the joy he was feeling in his heart was almost too much for him to handle. He had a large smile that spread across his lips at her announcement. She had a faint smile and tears in her eyes as she pressed the palms of her hands to her stomach. This was the first time she’s ever announced something like this.
He ran around his desk and toward her. Scooping her into his arms, he twirled her around. She laughed as she wrapped her arms around his neck. She kissed him deeply and he can feel her heart beating rapidly in her chest.
He can feel just how happy she is, and he was happy too. They were having a baby. They were finally going to meet their little Wrenley.
…
Hannah
2 months later.
A couple of months after I discovered I was pregnant; I was finally showing a baby bump. I haven’t been able to shift into my wolf form because pregnant wolves can’t shift, which makes us weaker than most werewolves. My entire body was already feeling weak, and I felt defenseless. I was tired all the time and the morning sickness was too much for me to handle at times.
Thankfully, I had a lot of care and help around the palace and get me through this pregnancy. Both Raya and Caroline have been amazing at providing me with the care I needed. Sebastian of course provided me the protection. A lot of the times I felt I couldn’t even get out of bed. I was just so tired and weak.
I spent a lot of time at the hospital, not only with Liam but to also keep an eye on my pregnancy. I remembered the last time I was pregnant; I had some complications. I know most of it was due to stress, but I didn’t want to take any chances this time around.
“Your baby is still looking good,” Dr. Davis said with a smile. “You don’t need to worry. Stop stressing.”
He has no idea why I’m stressing through.
“I just wanted to make sure,” I told him, pulling my shirt down once he finished wiping the gel from the ultrasound off my stomach. “It’s my first baby. I want to make sure everything is going smoothly.”
“You know you’re in good hands, Hannah.”
I knew he was right; I just wanted to make sure everything was going to be okay, just the same.
“Have you spoken to Nancy at all?” I asked; I’ve asked a few times through the last couple of months because I know at some point, they were going to end up together. I just wanted it to be sooner than later.
Nancy still hasn’t warmed up to me yet, but before we reversed time, she told me to give it some time and that she will come around. Nancy wants us to be friends; she doesn’t want to lose out on the friendships she’s gained. I’m just not sure how to go about it just yet.
“I still don’t know why you’re so persistent about this,” Dr. Davis said shaking his head with a frown. “Why does it matter if Nancy and I get along? She doesn’t even work for my department anymore.”
“I know,” I say as I slide down from the bed. “But even someone as mean as Nancy could use more friends. Maybe if she gained friends, she wouldn’t be as nasty. I’m willing to give her a chance; you should be too.”
“Are you going to see your bother?” He asked, changing the subject.
I nodded before leaving the room.
I had already discussed with Dr. Davis previously about returning to work once I have this baby. I really want to continue my work as a doctor and really work on finding a cure for my brother so I can truly save him.
I reached his room, and he was sitting up in bed watching cartoons on the television. It was nice to see that he was awake. He had a food tray on his bedside table, and I can tell he nibbled on some of the food given to him. But not enough.
“You should eat more,” I say to him, staring at his half-eaten apple and his one bite of sandwich.
“Hi, Hannah,” he says with a smile, ignoring my statement.
Liam has no memories of what happened to him in the underworld. Which I suppose is a good thing.
“How are you feeling?” I ask as I sit down on his bed.
“Tired,” he admits. “But I’m okay.”
“You really should eat more,” I told him again. “And keep hydrated.”
“Yeah yeah,” he says with an eyeroll, causing me to smile. He sounded like himself again, which is an improvement. “After I’m done with this cartoon I’ll eat more.”
I shake my head and give him a smirk as I hand him his tray.
“You can do both.”
He sighs, taking another bite of his sandwich. I rub the top of his head, ruffling his hair in the process.
“I do this because I love you and I care,” I remind him.
He gives me a grin.
“I know,” he says in return.
“I’ll be back later to check on you. I’m going to go home and get some rest.”
“Okay.”
I leave the hospital without saying another word. I was exhausted and the driver was waiting outside for me per orders of Sebastian.
When I returned to the palace, Sebastian was waiting for me. He stayed behind because he needed to finish up some of his work. He’s been so busy since we returned from the future.
“Is everything okay with the baby?” He asks, staring around my face.
I nod once.
“Yes,” I answer. “So far everything is fine.”
“And Liam?”
“He seems fine too,” I answer. “I hope someday I can find a real cure for him and not a temporary fix. I hate seeing him in the hospital like this.”
Sebastian wraps his arms around me and pulls me close to him. I nuzzle my face into his chest and breathe him in.
“I know,” he says softly. “You will someday. I know you will. You are smart and capable of anything.”
I loved his confidence in me. I can’t help but kiss him. Our embrace is cut short when we hear a knocking at the front door of the palace. We turn to see the doorman opening the door. Sebastian was quick to reach the door before anyone entered and I stayed close behind him.
“Good evening, sir,” said a familiar voice from within the darkness of the night’s air. “I had just got to town, and I can’t help but notice the signs about needing new capable fighters. I have fought many battles in the past and I would love to show you what I can do if you’ll allow me.”
“At this hour?” Sebastian asks, raising his brows. “Gamma applicants are expected at proper hours during the daylight. We hold training sessions in the morning. Come back then and you can meet with the head gamma.”
Sebastian begins to turn away and the doorman was about to shut the door, but the man’s foot catches the door before it shuts all the way.
“I do apologize for coming at such an odd hour. But something was compelling me to come here right now. My wolf wouldn’t allow me to wait. It was telling me I needed to get here.”
Sebastian turns to face this man; a face I still couldn’t see because of how dark the outside was and he still hasn’t stepped into the light. I was getting a familiar feeling from this man. I didn’t feel nervous though; only curious. Telling from Sebastian’s composure, he too wasn’t nervous.
Caroline came walking into the foyer with curiosity all over her face. There was an expression I didn’t recognize but she pauses when she sees the door of the palace and senses a man within the darkness. Her eyes widen and it was like time had frozen in place.
“Mate…” I swear I heard her breathing.
I narrowed my eyes at her, confused.
My heart pounding against my ribcage and I saw her expression turn into pure shock. Did I hear her correctly?
“Mate…” she says again; her tone turning into a squeak.
Realization hit me like a brick as I turned to the man at the door.
“Step into the light,” I order quickly. Sebastian looks at me with surprise. “Please, step into the light,” I say again, in a kinder tone.
The man steps into the palace and the light of the inside shine on his face.
I gasp as I stare around his familiar face before I whisper, “Scott?”
