Chapter 193
Sebastian
“You are under arrest for the attempted murder of my maid,” Sebastian growled to Magnolia. Magnolia looked furious and fought against the warriors that held her captive. They were placing cuffs around her wrists to keep her powers under control. Her icy blue eyes peered at Sebastian, and she looked as if she wanted to spit in his face.
“You are going to resent this day,” she hissed to him. “I promise you; this palace and your crown will be mine.”
Sebastian said nothing to her as he watched the gammas take her out of the palace. She was going to be locked away for a very long time if Sebastian had anything to say about it. He shook his head in dismay as he overheard Hannah comforting a very frightened Caroline.
Caroline was still on the ground and Hannah had her arms wrapped around her tightly. Both of them seemed to be trembling. After everything that has happened these last few weeks, he knew Hannah has been holding a lot in, and now was the time to relax and allow her feelings to take over.
Caroline sobbed in Hanna’s chest and Hannah had tears threatening to escape her beautiful eyes. Sebastian wanted to wrap Hannah in his arms and comfort her as well. He wanted her to know that she was safe now and that nothing was ever going to hurt her again.
“Where’s jack?” He heard Caroline asking.
He realized that Caroline was right; Jack was still out there. He couldn’t let Jack get away with what he had done to Hannah. She was still badly beaten and bruised and by the way, she was sitting on the ground, he knew she was still in pain from the beating she endured. He remembered smelling Jack’s fresh scent when they ran toward the palace in the forest. He could probably catch up to Jack and get him once and for all.
“I’ll be back,” Sebastian said as he marched toward the front doors of the palace.
He could hear Hannah in the distance asking where he was going and what he was going to do, but all he could think about at that moment was getting to Jack before he strayed too far away.
It didn’t take long to find Jack; he was running through the forest in his wolf form. The last time Sebastian found jack in the forest; he was heading toward the border to get the rogues to help him. but this time, it seemed Jack was a bit lost. He was running around and trying to figure out the best escape route. He didn’t seem as put together and confident as he seemed the last time.
This must have been the moment that Xander used his weakness and his desperation to get to him. One of his vessels must have been nearby and attacked Jack, causing Jack to become a vessel of Xander. Now that Jack was only Jack, he would be much easier to take down.
He already called for backup, which should be arriving soon. But he needed to make sure Jack didn’t go anywhere before they arrived.
Sebastian was quick to tackle Jack, causing both wolves to roll around the ground in a pile of dirt. Jack put up a fair fight, but he certainly wasn’t as strong as Sebastian. Both were furious and fought with great strength. But only one had the upper hand.
Just as Sebastian pinned Jack to the ground, his warriors came out of nowhere and helped put cuffs around Jack’s arms, causing him to shift back into his human form. His body had scratches from the fight all over his flesh. He was breathing heavily, and he tried to struggle against the warriors but he was no match for them.
“For your crimes against my luna queen, you are sentenced to prison. You won’t be seeing the light of day for a long time,” Sebastian hissed.
Jack looked as if he wanted to protest, but he refrained from doing so. He just made a lot of hissing and growling sounds as the warriors took him away, bringing him to prison to be with his mother.
Sebastian could finally breathe with satisfaction for a moment. But he didn’t linger for long. He needed to get back to Hannah.
…
Hannah
Caroline leaned against the counter of the bathroom with her head lowered and tears spilling from her eyes. Her hair had fallen over her face, shielding away her features. Her body was still trembling, and she held onto her arms as if she was freezing.
I ran a cloth over warm water in the sink and brought it to her head. She had a small gash on her head and blood started to trickle from it. I’m assuming she hit it when she fell to the ground. She winced at first contact, but soon her body relaxed.
I knew how frightened and confused she was, and my heart pulled for her.
“You are very brave,” I told her softly as I finished cleaning the wound on her head. I grabbed a large bandage and was about to place it over her wound. She blinks at me through her tears, clearly confused by my choice of words. “You could have run and hid, but you didn’t. You stood your ground. That makes you brave.”
“I was too afraid to go anywhere,” she breathes, her tone quivering as more tears escaped her eyes. “I’m not brave. I’m so weak.”
I knew that was anything but true. She might not be a fighter right now because she hasn’t had the motivation, but the Caroline I knew in the underworld worked her ass off to get to where she was. She was brave and a very capable and strong fighter. She was strong-willed and powerful. She might not have surfaced in this version of Caroline, but she was still in there. I knew exactly what Caroline was capable of and I wanted her to see that too.
“Caroline, I know you can’t see it right now. But know that you are far more capable than you know. And now you have a chance to prove that. You have your life back. You have time to prove your worth to not only yourself but everyone around you.”
She blinked a few times, confused by my words.
“I don’t understand…” she said, staring at me.
“I know,” I said with a faint smile as I bandaged her wound. “But you will someday.”
She looked like she wanted to say more, but I heard a knock on the bathroom door. I knew right away that it was Sebastian. As I opened the door, I was surprised to see another maid running into the bathroom with tears in her eyes.
“Caroline! Are you okay?” She cried as she hugged Caroline. Both maids started crying as they embraced one another.
Sebastian wrapped an arm around me and pulled me close to him.
“We should give them some privacy,” he says to me against my ear. I nod and leave the bathroom with him by my side. “Also, I wanted some alone time with you.”
I raise my brows as he guides me to our shared bedroom.
“Did you capture Jack?” I ask as we enter our room.
“He’s been taken care of,” Sebastian says, turning to face me. There was a playful smile across his lips and that’s when I noticed the rose petals on our bed. I can’t help the gasp that escapes my lips as I see the gorgeous red petals that occupied our silk sheet and the fluorescent candles burning on our bedside. I gazed up at him with questions lingering in my eyes “I think it’s time we get our daughter back,” he says as he kisses me.
