Chapter 164

Sebastian

Jack and Magnolia had taken over the kingdom.

How could something like this have happened?

All Sebastian wanted to do was storm the palace. Fury was rising through him; he was trying to listen to Hannah and Raya’s conversation, but all he could think about was how Jack and Magnolia were destroying his kingdom. It was taking everything he had not to lose control right then and there.

“I’m going to tear him apart limb by limb,” Erik kept growling from within.

He couldn’t stay in that room for much longer; he needed to see Jack immediately. He needed to get his kingdom back.

How had it been 5 years since he left?

5 years since he left his kingdom and now it was completely ruined. He could only imagine the kind of shit Jack had gotten himself into. What had the kingdom become?

As soon as he got outside, he allowed Erik to take over. It only took seconds before he reached the palace grounds. He ran with all his speed and all of his strength. The ground shook with every step taken and the trees were blurred in his vision the faster he ran. He could already smell Jack inside the palace and a couple of other familiar scents.

The gate that sat in front of the palace ground was closed and guarded by the gammas that Sebastian had once trained. As Sebastian approached, they looked at one another confused for a moment. They certainly weren’t expecting to see Sebastian again; they probably didn’t even know it was him.

“You need to turn back!” One of the guards shouted. “No one is to enter the palace grounds!”

“You mean my palace grounds,” Sebastian spoke to them in an even and calm tone.

Their eyes widened and they looked at one another again before fixating their eyes on Sebastian.

“Don’t forget who made you who you are. I AM the one who made you into gammas. I AM the one who trained you and made you the men I see right now,” Sebastian growled.

“Y… your majesty?” Another gamma stammered. “It can’t be…”

Sebastian shifted into his human form, standing before his men. He was trying hard to not let his anger get the best of him. But he wouldn’t be satisfied until Jack was defeated once and for all. He wasn’t leaving without his kingdom back.

“Let me in,” Sebastian demanded.

“I’m afraid we can’t sir,” a gamma said, stepping forward. “He would kill us in cold blood if we disobeyed him. He’s already killed so many of us…”

Whom had Jack been killing?

“I assure you that I am going to right this wrong. It will be Jack who pays the ultimate price in the end. No more of my men will fall at his hands. Let me into my palace.”

They looked at each other once more before motioning to the gamma in charge of the gate. He looked uncertain for a moment but after one stern look from Sebastian, he sighed and pressed the button at his podium. The gate began flashing and then it slowly started to open. By the time the gate had fully opened, Sebastian was already walking up the pathway to the palace doors.

Sebastian went to the main doors of the palace, which were sealed. He pounded on the door with all his force, feeling himself growing angrier with each passing moment. This time, he couldn’t blame the wolf’s madness on his anger. He had his full wolf back; he wasn’t under the influence of the underworld.

The door opened and the doorman stood before him; the same doorman that once obeyed Sebastian’s orders. The doorman stared at Sebastian with a disbelieving look; it was like Sebastian had just come back from the dead.

“How… how are you here…?” The doorman asked in a hoarse tone.

“Let me in,” Sebastian demanded.

He was quiet and hesitant; Sebastian was about to push him aside himself and barge into the palace, but a familiar voice from the foyer spoke first.

“Let my brother in,” Jack ordered.

The doorman bowed his head in response to Jack and stepped aside for Sebastian.

“Well, look who has come back from the dead,” Jack said with a grin. He had his arms folded across his chest and he narrowed his eyes at Sebastian. “We were beginning to think you’d never return.”

“What have you done to my kingdom,” Sebastian asked, trying to keep himself calm.

“I made it better. It was out of control for a long time. Now there’s finally order to the place.”

“You destroyed it. Everybody is terrified of you. You kicked out my Beta and his family. You kicked out my daughter,” Sebastian growled.

“They were no longer relevant. They aren’t my family, so I don’t give a shit about what happens to them,” Jack said; he sounded almost bored with the conversation. “Besides, it’s not like I left them homeless. I got them a new house and I even gave that beta a new job at the king’s bank. I’m not completely heartless.”

“Step down and return the kingdom to its rightful leader.”

“I’m afraid that’s going to be a no. You see, you’ve been gone for 5 years. Now that you’ve returned, it almost feels like you’ve abandoned your kingdom for 5 years,” Jack said with a head shake. “What will the kingdom think when the king they trusted resurfaces after 5 long years after thinking he was dead.”

“It wasn’t 5 years for me. I was trapped in the underworld,” Sebastian explained, knowing Jack was probably fully aware of that.

“Do you really think they are going to care?” Jack nearly laughed. “I have been the one in charge for 5 years. I have been the one who picked up the pieces you broke. I’m the one they trust now.”

“They will never trust you over me,” Sebastian said in return.

“You are delusional, my brother.”

“I’m not your brother. We will never be brothers.”

“That’s a cruel thing to say,” said another familiar voice.

The sound of her voice made Sebastian’s skin crawl; he clenched his fists, digging his nails into his palms to keep himself in the present moment. Erik was seconds away from losing control.

“Magnolia,” Sebastian greeted as Magnolia came into view.

“Nice to see you again, Sebastian,” Magnolia said coolly. “I must admit, I’m surprised you’re alive. I didn’t think anybody went to the underworld and lived to talk about it. You’re lucky enough to do it twice.”

“You have both overstayed your welcome,” Sebastian growled. “I demand that you leave my palace.”

They both looked at each other before laughing at his words.

“Oh, Sebastian,” Magnolia laughed. “You don’t honestly think this is still your palace, do you? You really are delusional. It’s even more delusional to think that you have won in a battle against Xander.”

What did she mean by that?

He stared between the two of them who just stared back at him. Eventually, Jack took a step closer to him.

“You can’t win against him. When he wants something, he gets it. He doesn’t need the moonstone scepter to be in control.”

Sebastian narrowed his eyes at Jack; he saw a tint of red around his pupils and then something familiar seemed to be staring back at him. Realization dawned on him.

“Xander,” he growled, causing Jack to grin.
