Chapter 142
Sebastian
Hannah had disappeared once the blinding light appeared. Sebastian couldn’t see anything, not even his luna and daughter. But he knew they were still nearby because he could feel them. He reached out to grab her, but he was only met with air. He felt the heavy energy of the moon goddess circling him and protecting him; he only hoped that she was protecting his family as well.
The moon goddess had obviously chosen them to be together or else they wouldn’t be the three keys that opened the portal. That explained the prophecy, but it was still odd that Hannah was only his chosen mate.
He finally got a glimpse of her running through the blinding lights with Wren in her arms. He wanted to run out toward her, but he knew she was running Wren to safety, and he didn’t want to distract her. Raya was waiting with open arms and ready to take Wren away from there. He felt a strange pull toward the moonstone scepter that he had dropped on the ground. He knew it was because the portal was opened, and his wolf was on the other side.
This was all too familiar to him. He didn’t want to go anywhere without Hannah though. He watched as she handed Wren off to Raya and said something to her. Then Hannah closed her eyes and fell backward. The energy of the scepter was too much for her. He ran toward her, catching her before she hit the ground. She fell into his arms and her eyes remained closed. The light only grew more intense from there.
He closed his eyes as well and covered Hannah’s face with his body. Like before, he heard an explosion, and then everything went black.
…
Sebastian woke up without a clue as to how long he’s been out. He lifted his head, feeling his headache pinging at his temples. The room he was in was dark and oddly familiar. It also had a dark energy circling around it.
As he looked around his surrounding area, he couldn’t see much. He realized this was the room he saw Liam being tortured in. But this time, he didn’t sense Liam nearby. However, he did sense his wolf and he was relieved by that. He stood to his feet and began walking in the direction his wolf’s energy was pulsating.
He walked closer and paused when he saw a large metal cage. His wolf was inside the cage, sleeping. There were large metal cuffs around its paws and a big muzzle keeping its mouth shut. Sebastian felt a wave of fury washing over him as he saw the condition of his wolf. He clenched his fists in aggravation.
His wolf was out cold.
He then saw another cage beside this one and realized that there was another wolf trapped inside. Like his wolf, this wolf was also chained and muzzled. She was also unconscious. It was Hannah’s wolf.
“So, we meet again, wolf king.”
He heard a dark voice coming from behind him. He turned quickly to see a tall, hooded shadow standing before him. His aura was dark, and he knew right away that this was the same hooded shadow he saw torturing Liam.
He also knew this wasn’t Henry.
“Xander,” Sebastian said through gritted teeth.
Xander laughed and the laugh was chilling, but Sebastian made sure to make no reaction toward it.
“So, you do remember me. Here I’m thinking you forgot all about me,” Xander said, still laughing.
“Bring me to my luna,” Sebastian demanded once he realized Hannah wasn’t in this area. He didn’t even feel her nearby, which worried him the most.
“I’m afraid your luna is busy right now,” Xander said. “And she isn’t taking any messages.”
…
Hannah
I woke up in bed. But it wasn’t just a bed; it was my bed. The bed I once had when I lived in the rogue territory with my mother. I was in my old childhood room. This was also the room I shared with my brother Liam before my mother died and we had to leave our home to live with my father and his family.
I never thought I would see this room again; not since I came here to collect my things last year. I looked around in amazement, trying to remember the events of what happened previously. Everything looked exactly the same; my brother’s bed was across the room, and it looked neatly made. He always kept his bed neatly made so it wasn’t out of the ordinary. All our pictures were still hung up on the walls and my desk.
I ran my fingers across the wooden decals of my desk, remembering how my mother had carved it for me during one of my birthdays.
How did I even get back here?
The last thing I remembered was the full moon ceremony and trying to open the portal to the underworld. The next thing I knew everything was going black and I was waking up in my childhood home.
Where was Sebastian?
I couldn’t even feel him nearby.
I went to open the door, but the doorknob wouldn’t budge; it was locked. I sucked in a sharp breath; whoever brought me here, locked me in the room. This wasn’t good; I needed to figure out how to get out.
I went over to my window and attempted to open it, but that also wouldn’t budge. I opened my curtains and gasped as I got a look outside. I might have been in my childhood home, but I certainly wasn’t in the rogue territory. Outside looked deadly; the air was musky looking and the sky was an auburn red. The sun was so large it looked like it was practically touching the land; just by touching the window frame, I could feel the heat of the outside. The ground looked dry like a desert and was covered in burnt red sand. There were no living plants, and I could hardly see anybody lurking around out there.
I could see some buildings nearby and they looked like they were small prisons. I had an unsettled feeling in the pit of my stomach. I took a few steps away from the window and continued to look around my familiar childhood room.
I knew one thing for certain, none of this was real. I was definitely inside the underworld. I needed to somehow get to Sebastian; I couldn’t feel him anywhere nearby and I hated that. My only hope was that Raya had gotten Wren out on time and that they were both safe.
I heard the rattling of my door which startled me. I took a few steps away from it, unsure of what to expect. I could only imagine what kind of underworld creature was going to come at me as soon as that door was opened. I kept my eyes on the door, waiting for a chance to run through it. I had to get out of there and find Sebastian; that was my main priority at this moment.
The door finally swung open, and my heart stopped in my chest as I saw the boyish grin of the person standing before me.
“Hey, sis! I’m glad you’re finally here!” He said excitedly.
“Liam?”
