Chapter 130

Hannah

“I have to do what?!” I said loudly, standing to my feet. “I’m not stabbing my husband. That’s out of the question!”

“It wouldn’t kill him,” Lila explained. “But it will open the portal so you can get into the underworld. Those banished won’t be able to leave still, so you don’t have to worry about the kingdom.”

“I refuse to do that,” I said shaking my head. “How do I know that it won’t kill him?”

“You just have to trust me…”

“Trust you?” I scoffed. “I don’t even know you. I’m not stabbing my husband. I’m sorry, but the answer is no.”

“It’s the only way,” Lila said as she stood as well. “Think about your little girl…”

“I am thinking of her,” I said, scooping Wrenley into my arms. “I’m always thinking of her. She needs her father and I’m not going to be the one who takes that from her.”

“Hannah, she said it wouldn’t kill him,” Henry tried to reason with me.

“There has to be another way. I couldn’t bare hurting him. I love him too much to put him through that. He’s been through enough.”

“Don’t you think he’d want to do this if it meant curing his madness?” Lila asked. “Don’t you think he would want that?”

“Of course, but at what cost?” I asked. “Stabbing him?”

“Do you know where he’s at right now? With the full moon only a day away, surely his madness is already taking effect.”

“He’s at home and he’s fine,” I said; I wasn’t going to let her know how aggravated I was that I couldn’t get a hold of him through the mindlink.

“Are you sure about that? Do you really know if he’s home or not?” Lila asked. What was she getting at? “Because I know exactly where he is, and I can show you.”

“I don’t understand,” I said, eyeing her carefully. “What are you talking about.”

“Please, sit down,” she motioned for the couch. I stared at the couch space beside Henry with a frown. Eventually, I sighed and sat down, placing Wrenley on the couch beside me. “This isn’t going to be easy to see. But you need to see how dangerous he is. You need to see what he is capable of and who he is capable of hurting.”

I had a rotten feeling in the pit of my stomach. I wasn’t sure I wanted to see what she was about to show me. She motioned for me to place my hands on the crystal ball; I did as she said.

She closed her eyes and took in a deep breath; I did the same. Soon, my mind was transported. I was standing in the middle of my brother’s hospital room; Lila stood beside me. Liam lay in his bed, and he seemed to be sleeping but I knew he was still in his coma. Actually, he wasn’t in a coma at all; I knew now that he was trapped in the underworld and being tortured by the vampires. My heart clenched at the very thought of it. He was hooked up to a bunch of machines that were keeping his human form alive.

Dr. Davis walked into the room moments later and I was about to explain why we were standing there, but he didn’t seem to notice us.

He went straight to Liam’s bed and changed his IV bags. He had a mournful gaze in his eyes, and I could tell he was losing hope that Liam was ever going to recover. He was only keeping him alive to please me.

“He can’t see or hear us,” Lila explained. “We aren’t here. Just our minds.”

Just like Liam’s mind was in the underworld. I choked back a sob at the thought.

“Why did you bring me here?” I asked; I couldn’t take my eyes off my brother. “Is this real-time? As in right now.”

“I brought you here because you need to see what happened. You need to see it for yourself.”

I didn’t like the sound of that.

Dr. Davis finished his quick examination before leaving the room. A few moments later, the door opened again, and I saw Sebastian standing before us. It took everything I had not to run to him and wrap my arms around him. Seeing him felt so nice but I knew he couldn’t see me.

Then I got a look in his eyes and everything inside my chest fell into my stomach. His eyes looked so wild and unlike him. They were scarlet and his face was wincing as if the pain was shooting through him. He looked uncomfortable and he was breathing heavily.

Something was wrong. Lila took a step back; she already knew what was going to happen. I noticed that Sebastian was holding something in his hand; he drew it from his back pocket and wrapped his fingers around the handle.

“The dagger?” I whispered.

No. What was he doing?

He went toward Liam’s bed and rose the dagger in the air, I screamed as he plunged it deep into Liam’s heart. Liam gasped; his eyes opening as if he was only sleeping. His entire body shook, and I could see the smoky cloud of darkness leaving through his flesh. He coughed and blood flew out of his mouth.

“No!!” I cried as tears streamed down my face.

Liam looked around the room for a moment, confused. Then he looked up at Sebastian and I saw the hurt crossing his face. His entire body paled drastically, and he stopped breathing.

“Liam!!” I cried, running toward his bed.

It was too late. He was gone.

I opened my eyes, and I was back in Lila’s living room. She looked sad and Henry looked confused because he wasn’t there. I allowed tears to flood my features. I buried my face in my hands. My entire body trembled at the thought of my husband killing my brother. I couldn’t believe that happened. Sebastian would never have done something like that without talking to me about it first. He would never just kill my brother.

“Do you see now how dangerous his madness is? If he can do that to his own brother-in-law, after knowing how important he is to you, what else do you think he’s capable of doing?”

“No,” I said between a clenched jaw and misty eyes. “There has to be an explanation.”

“Even after seeing what he did, you still give him the benefit of the doubt?”

“He’s my husband,” I said, trying to keep the emotions out of my voice. “He would never do anything to hurt me. There must be a reason for this. I need to speak with him Somebody needs to get a hold of him.”

Lila shook her head in disbelief.

“He’s dangerous,” she said, standing up. “The sooner you realize that the better off you will be.”

“I need to step outside,” Henry said, standing quickly. “I’ll be back, but please think about what she said.”

I shook my head as I held Wrenley tightly; I couldn’t even fathom the thought of Sebastian betraying me. I wasn’t going to entertain it.

Sebastian

Using the tracking spell that Gemma cast, Sebastian was able to find where Hannah went, even if he couldn’t get a hold of her. He traveled in his wolf form and made it to the witch’s house within a few hours. As he approached, he saw Henry standing in the distance. He was in the yard with his arms folded across his chest.

“What are you doing here?” Henry growled; jealousy wasn’t a good color on him.

“I’m here to see my luna and my child,” Sebastian said in return.

Henry smirked.

“They don’t want to see you. Hannah knows what you did, and she’s disgusted. She wants nothing to do with you.”
