Chapter 127

Hannah

“Sebastian?!” I said, kneeling beside him as he fell to the ground.

He yelled out in pain despite being around the gammas and alphas. I knew revealing this kind of pain was difficult for him and he was trying hard to hide it. But the more he tried to hide it, the more evident it became.

“What is it?” I asked, trying to get him to look at me. “What hurts?”

“Everything…” he whispered.

The medicine that Gemma had given him to calm his pain was no longer working. He could feel everything that was happening to Liam, and I felt sick thinking about it. That meant Liam was in this kind of pain as well. I wrapped my arms around Sebastian and held him close to me; I was hoping my nearness would bring him some kind of ease just like it does with his madness.

“Breathe,” I said to him. “Please, just breathe…”

He eventually took in a full breath and his body seemed to relax a little. Beta Arnold was by our side quickly; the others were watching us with wary expressions. I could feel both my father and Adira watching me specifically, waiting for me to break under the pressure. But I wasn’t going to give that to them.

“We need to get him to our bedroom,” I told Arnold who looked back at me curiously.

“Shouldn’t we take him to the infirmary?” Arnold asked, raising his brows.

“There’s nothing they can do for him there,” I explained. “He’ll be more comfortable in our bed.”

Arnold nodded and helped me lift Sebastian to his feet. Once we were out of view of the others, Sebastian was already starting to feel well enough to walk on his own. However, he still had a slight limp like his leg was somehow injured.

Once we got upstairs, I turned to Arnold who had a worried gaze on his face.

“You should get back to the others. They need some guidance. I can handle Sebastian from here,” I told him.

“Are you sure?” He asked. “I don’t mind helping.”

“I’d prefer to handle this myself,” I told him.

He looked at me for a moment longer and then nodded his head.

“I’ll check on Wren and Raya before heading back downstairs,” Arnold suggested.

I thanked him before following Sebastian to our bedroom. He tucked himself into bed and was lying with his head on his pillow and his arm was crossing his eyes like the lighting was bothering him. His bare chest rose and fell before my eyes, and I couldn’t seem to look away from him.

“How are you feeling?” I asked him, sitting beside him. With his free hand, he reached toward me and touched my arm, draping his fingers through mine.

“A bit better,” he told me. “I don’t know what happened. It felt like my entire body was on fire.”

I winced at the thought of that; did that mean Liam was currently burning alive in the underworld? Or maybe it was Sebastian’s wolf that was burning. Either way, the thought was unsettling.

I thought about my last talk with Henry in the hospital around the time Wrenley was born. He told me of his witch friend that could help Sebastian. He said something about a potion that could cure his madness. However, that was before we found out that his madness was because a part of his wolf was trapped in the underworld. But maybe this witch really did know how to cure him. Maybe she knew how to get his entire wolf back.

“I can’t sit by and watch this happen to you any longer,” I told him, staring down at my hands.

He lifted his arm off his eyes and peered over at me with a worried frown.

“As I said, we need to be smart about this…”

“Henry brought up something interesting,” I blurted.

“You’re still talking to him?”

“No,” I answered quickly. “A while back, he mentioned there was a witch that could help you. Someone who isn’t Gemma.”

“Nobody can help me,” he muttered.

“But maybe she can,” I said back.

“It’s too dangerous,” Sebastian said, lifting his head to gaze at me. “How do we know we can trust this witch?”

“We don’t,” I confessed. “But Henry claims to be my fated mate and…”

“And you believe him?”

“My wolf feels that he is telling the truth. As my fated mate, he wouldn’t hurt me on purpose. Lie to me, sure, but he wouldn’t put me in danger.”

“So, you want to go to this witch?” Sebastian asked. “Is Henry going to help us find her considering he’s the only one who actually knows her and her whereabouts?”

“He might not help us, but he’d help me,” I said cautiously.

“What are you saying?”

“I’m saying, I’ll go with him to this witch and get the information I need to help you,” I told him. Sebastian narrowed his eyes at me, and I could see the questions surfacing on his face. “It takes about a day to get there. I could probably be back by tomorrow night if not the morning after tomorrow.”

I knew the morning after tomorrow was the full moon and we’d be cutting it close. But we had to think and act quickly if we wanted to figure this out by the full moon. I feared it would be too late for Liam if we waited any longer.

“I’m not letting you go with him,” Sebastian mumbled; he was looking at me like he couldn’t believe I would suggest such a thing.

“This might be the only way we can help you…”

“We will find another way,” Sebastian snapped.

“And if we don’t?” I asked in return. “The full moon is in 2 days, Sebastian. We are running out of time. This might be the only way I can save both my brother and your wolf.”

“I don’t want you to be in any kind of danger. I couldn’t live with myself if…”

“I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if something happened to you where I could have prevented it,” I said, grasping his hands gently. Tears welled in my eyes as I looked at him. “Sebastian, I love you and I want to help you. I’m not a weak omega like everyone makes me out to be…”

“I know you aren’t but…”

“This is my kingdom that I want to protect. Liam is my brother, and you are my husband. My alpha king. Let me do my part in helping you overcome this.”

“I don’t trust Henry…” Sebastian said. “He’s lied to you before and he tried to frame me for murder to get me out of the way… there’s no telling what he’s capable of…”

“Trust that I can handle him,” I said. “Trust that I know what I am doing, and that Henry isn’t a threat to me.”

He was quiet for a moment but then he sighed; I knew I won this argument.

“I’m bringing Wrenley with me because I worry about leaving her alone for too long. Especially with the full moon around the corner. Whatever the vampires are planning, I have a feeling it’ll be on the full moon considering that’s when Liam will be trapped forever.”

“Like a countdown?”

“Like a countdown,” I agreed.

“Okay,” he finally said; he leaned up and kissed me gently. “I need you to be careful and report to me everything.”

“I will,” I assured him.

I pulled away from him and started toward the door. Once I was out of his view, I mindlinked Henry.

“You said there was a witch that might be able to help with Sebastian?”

“Hannah?” He asked, sounding confused. “I wasn’t expecting to hear from you…”

“Answer the question, Henry,” I hissed.

“Yes,” he said. “Her name is Lila. She lives kind of far. At least a day’s trip…”

“I need you to take me to her.”
