Chapter 115
Sebastian
“Kill him?! Sebastian growled with obvious shock. “Absolutely not. We have to save him. There must be a way!”
“The only way to save this poor child is to kill him,” she argued in return. There was obvious pain in her eyes. She didn’t like this outcome any more than he did. But she was positive this was what they had to do. “This place isn’t somewhere you can escape, Sebastian. His best bet is to kill him.”
“I can’t do that to Hannah…” Sebastian breathed, sorrow overfilling him. “I won’t. It would destroy her.”
“If you don’t, her brother will live in this agony for the rest of eternity. The potion they gave him, is worse than death. It’s eternal torture. It’s only going to get worse with each passing moment. He will never get out of here. Unless you kill him.”
Sebastian shook his head, bringing his mind back to the present moment. They were back in her house, in front of the crystal ball and he stumbled backward. He was having trouble grasping what was going on and what she was saying.
“There’s something I have for you. It’s something I wished to have never needed to give you. But I’m afraid the time has come,” Gemma said walking toward the back end of the room. She dug through some of her belongings before she came across a small wooden chest. It was beautifully designed with red rubies and blue rhinestones. She had a key for it placed around her neck on a silver chain and when she opened it, Sebastian was taken aback.
It was a silver dagger with green gemstones decaling the handle. To Sebastian, it looked almost familiar, but he couldn’t figure out where he had seen it before.
“This is the dagger you will need to use to kill him. It has a spell cast on it. Right now, there is darkness possessing poor Liam’s body and only this dagger can release him of it…”
Sebastian said nothing as he stared at the dagger.
“To rid Liam of that darkness, you will need to plunge this dagger deep into his heart. You will need to kill him.”
…
Hannah
It was the most beautiful baby I had ever seen, but she was so tiny. Dr. Davis said with all the stress I’ve been going through, she arrived early. He gave me a chance to hold the cooing little baby, but then he had to take her away to examine her. It broke my heart when he took her from me. I didn’t want to let her go. I feared that I would never see her again if they took her away from me.
At that moment, all I wanted was Sebastian. I hated being away from him and I hated that he felt the need to leave. Raya mentioned that he went North but nobody knows exactly why. I had an uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach; I worried he was putting himself in danger.
“It’s going to be okay,” Raya assured me, sitting beside my bed. “He told Arnold that he would return and to keep an eye on you.”
That made me feel a little better, but I still didn’t understand why he would leave in the first place.
“I don’t even have a name for our daughter yet… we didn’t discuss it,” I whispered through my tears.
“I’m sure he wouldn’t mind if you came up with something on your own,” she said with a shrug. I never thought I would be naming our first child by myself. It wasn’t something I ever wanted to do.
I thought about it for a moment, there was a name I always liked, and I always thought I’d name my first child. But I hadn’t thought about it in a long time; it was a name I picked when I was only a child during a ‘what if’ scenario.
“Wrenley,” I whispered, looking up at Raya. “I want to name her Wrenley. Wren for short.”
“It’s beautiful,” she breathed as she hugged me.
“Raya, I need you to promise me something,” I told her; my tone darkening as I gazed up at her.
She frowned and nodded.
“Anything,” she said in return.
“If things go south, I need you to promise me that you and Arnold will take Wren and keep her safe…”
She looked surprised by my words.
“Things aren’t going to go south,” she told me, narrowing her eyes at me to focus on my features.
“Just promise me…” I repeated.
She sighed and nodded.
“I promise…”
Before could say anything more, the door opened, and Henry came into the room. He looked around curiously for a moment, meeting my eyes and I could see the worry and concern lingering in his gaze.
“I just wanted to make sure you were okay,” he breathed. “I saw your baby… she’s beautiful.”
“Stay away for my baby,” I growled to him.
He frowned and sighed.
“I know you’re mad at me. But you have to believe that I’m only after your best interest.”
I wanted to laugh in his face, but Nora was stopping me. It was like she kind of believed what he was saying, despite everything we knew about him and everything he was putting us through. I couldn’t understand it, but she was recognizing him as our mate and didn’t want to argue with him anymore. She felt conflicted and defeated at the same time.
“I get that you don’t want to see me…” he continued.
“That’s an understatement,” Raya muttered, folding her arms across her chest.
He ignored her.
“But I want you to be safe and I want you to be happy. Which is why I’m stepping away from your relationship with Sebastian,” he said, meeting my eyes again.
I rose my brows.
“What do you mean by that?” I asked cautiously.
“I know you love him, and I don’t want anything to come between the two of you. Because he makes you happy…” he said slowly. I was getting an uneasy feeling about what he was saying, this was the same guy who told me he was never going to give up. I found it hard to believe that he was giving up on trying to win me, over.
“What’s the catch?” I asked, cocking my head to the side.
“There’s no catch, Hannah. I’m not a monster. But I do care about the safety of you and your baby. So, I’m going to tell you something and I need you to hear me out.”
I wasn’t liking where this was going, but I listened anyway.
“There’s a witch that lives North of the kingdom. She’s one of the most powerful witches there is. I have strong reason to believe that she’s the reason for the wolf king’s madness. I also think she can reverse and get rid of it. He could live a normal life again and you won’t be in danger anymore…”
“What?” I gasped, staring at him with dismay. How could this not have come up sooner? How could he keep this from me? “I don’t understand…how do you know this…?”
“Because she’s a friend of mine,” Henry admitted, staring down at his hands. “She told me she has a potion that could reverse it. I didn’t bring it before because I wanted you to leave him. I understand it was wrong and I’m sorry…”
I was at a loss for words; I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. In all of my research, I never thought of the possibility of which. I knew they existed, but I never thought they lived on our lands, in our kingdom. My mind was whirling with this new information.
“How do we know you’re telling the truth?” Raya asked suspiciously, raising her brows at him.
“Because it doesn’t seem like you have much of a choice. You either trust me and get cured of his madness, or you don’t and put yourself and your new baby at risk.”
I glanced over at Raya and we both exchanged worried glances; Henry was right. I didn’t have a choice. I had to do what I could to protect my child and if that meant traveling to the north to retrieve that potion, then I would have to do just that. I wanted to tell all this to Sebastian and have him go with me, but he was nowhere to be seen.
“Maybe that’s where Sebastian went,” Raya said, her eyes widening. “He went North, maybe he figured it out too and he already went to get the potion.”
“She won’t give it to him. She was the one who did this to him. She’s my friend though and I can get it from her,” Henry explained. “So, my question to you is, will you come with me to the north?”
