Chapter 113
Sebastian
The underworld; the realm of vampires. He knew that’s where he was in that dream. Its place was familiar to him and he could feel the darkness that roamed the area. There was no mistaking what and where that place was.
“What’s going on?” Arnold asked, walking into Sebastian’s room with Dr. Conway in front of him.
Dr. Conway was freaked out by Sebastian’s mention of the underworld that he went to get Beta Arnold. As soon as Arnold arrived in Sebastian’s room, Sebastian was already out of bed and packing his belongings. His body was trembling with each clothing item he packed. He refused to meet any of their questioning gazes.
That dream wasn’t a dream; it was very much real. The pain he felt before the dream was real, and the pain he felt for the last couple of months was real. He now knew exactly where it was coming from, and he wasn’t going to waste any more time.
Liam has been confirmed to be in the hospital still, but Sebastian knew his mind wasn’t in at that hospital. He was given something to trap his mind within the underworld. He was being tortured; the pain that Sebastian was feeling was the same pain that Liam was feeling daily. Which meant they were somehow being linked.
It was obvious that it was magic that had tied them together; how could he not have realized that sooner?
When it came to magic, there was one person he knew could help him. A family friend of his that he hasn’t seen in years; Gemma. She lived on the North side of the kingdom in a small village. She hides in plain sight but she’s the cleverest witch he knows. She would be able to tell him exactly where Liam was and how to get him out.
But he needed to leave soon. He didn’t trust himself in his wolf form; plus, Eric has been quiet, so he was going to take his car instead. He should be able to get there within a few days if he drove quickly. He didn’t want Hannah to know what was going on because then she would worry even more. He needed to keep his travels quiet.
“Alpha!” Arnold said, trying to bring him back to the present moment. “What’s going on? Where are you going?”
“I need to leave,” Sebastian said quickly. “I need to go to the North. There’s something I got to do.”
“Like what?” Arnold asked. “Let me help you…”
“No!” Sebastian roared. “I need to do this on my own. I need you here to protect Hannah. If anything happens, report back to me.”
“Hannah was here not long ago. We could hear you from downstairs before you passed out. I told her it was best if she left for right now. She was fearing the life of her unborn child and agreed.”
It was probably for the best that she left. Sebastian didn’t want her anywhere near him while this was happening. Whatever was happening to him, it had to do with Liam. It would destroy her if she knew that Liam has been trapped in the underworld for the last few months, being tortured by those nasty vampires. She would never forgive herself for not realizing something was seriously wrong.
“Do we know where she went?” Sebastian asked.
“Back to the hospital,” Arnold explained. “Raya went with her.”
That was a relief to hear; at least she wouldn’t be alone, and she was safe at the hospital.
…
Hannah
I sat in the hospital beside Liam and Raya. Tears flowed down my features as I thought about the noise I heard from our bedroom. I stood at the bottom of the stairs with Raya, listening as Sebastian threw things across the room, causing them to shatter against the wall. He was swearing and punching the wall as well. It almost sounded like he was in pain. With each sound he made, I flinched even more. I felt so helpless; I just wanted to run to him and make sure that he was okay. I knew he was angry because of the photo he saw, and I wanted to explain to him that it didn’t want he was thinking. Soon, he was quiet; no sounds were coming from his room and I found that to be an opportunity to go see him. He must be calm now.
As I made my way up the stairs, Arnold appeared, stopping me before I reached the top.
“He told me not to let you in right now,” Arnold said, mournfulness in his eyes.
“What?” I breathed. “He’s my husband. I need to check on him…”
“I will deal with him,” Arnold assured me. “But he made me promise. He’s not okay, Hannah. Something is wrong and he doesn’t want you in there while it’s happening.”
I felt a jab of pain in my chest; my baby stirred within my stomach, kicking my ribcage and causing a jab of pain in the side of my stomach. I had to do what was best for her; maybe it wasn’t a good idea to confront Sebastian while he was like this.
I just wished there was more I could do for him. I turned away and walked back down the stairs and toward the door. If he didn’t want me here; then I wouldn’t be here. I’ll go back to the hospital and spend more time with Liam while Sebastian fought his inner demons.
“Where are you going to go?” Arnold asked for the stairway; he sounded worried.
“Back to the hospital,” I told him. “It’s the only safe place I can think of.”
“I’ll go with you,” Raya said in return. “You are in no condition to go anywhere alone.”
A knock sounded on Liam’s hospital door bringing me back to the present moment. I didn’t sense Sebastian nearby, so I knew it wasn’t him. Raya looked at me worriedly, so I knew it wasn’t Arnold. Dr. Davis wouldn’t even bother knocking.
Raya went to open the door, only to be shoved aside by Henry.
“What are you doing here?” I asked, narrowing my eyes at him as he strolled into the room quickly.
“I came to talk to you,” he said quickly; he seemed out of breath and a bit manic. It worried me.
“I think you’ve done enough,” I growled.
He was the last person I wanted to talk to right now; not since he kissed me this morning and spread rumors across the media. I blamed him for Sebastian going manic and destroying everything in our room. I blamed him for Sebastian not wanting to see me.
“You have some nerve showing up here after what you pulled,” I hissed.
“I didn’t do anything wrong besides want to protect you, Hannah,” he said in return. “I didn’t ask the media to show up to my house and take that picture. It was a mistake. I don’t know how many times I need to say that…”
“Your stunt nearly jeopardized my marriage, Henry,” I growled to him. “It pushed my husband over the edge…”
“Did he hurt you?” Henry asked, I could see a flash of anger coursing through his eyes as he thought about Sebastian laying his hands on me. “I’ll kill him if he touches you…”
“He didn’t do anything!” I shouted. “He has every right to be upset. He thinks I betrayed him. You made him think I betrayed him.”
“Hannah, just listen to me…” Henry pleaded. “I have to tell you something… I should have said this long ago but I didn’t and…”
“I think you should leave,” Raya interrupted, stepping in front of me. “Whatever you have to say isn’t relevant.”
“You are wrong,” Henry growled to her. “I’m not leaving until she hears what I need to tell her…”
I went to argue in my defense, but then I felt a wave of pain shooting through my stomach, causing me to tumble over. Both Henry and Raya turned to face with horror on their faces. They both went to each side of me and helped me to my feet. Something was wrong with my baby; I could feel it.
“Go get Dr. Davis,” Raya demanded Henry; he nodded and left the room quickly.
Before I could grasp what was happening, I felt a liquid between my legs.
“Oh, my goddess…” Raya breathed, staring at the ground.
My water just broke.
