Chapter 3

I never imagined that my last two days at home could feel so painfully long, each hour dragging as I felt the life I knew slipping away.

Rose just coughed lightly, and before Damien left temporarily to handle business, he reminded me several times to stay up late making medicine.

I once gathered herbs and made antidotes for him, nearly freezing to death on the snowy mountain and getting buried in an avalanche.

After saving his life, he looked at the scars on my hands from brewing medicine and frowned with concern. "From now on, I'll take care of you. I never want you to work this hard again."

Now, the scars on my hands are still there, hurting even more under the firelight.

As if mocking how naive I was back then.

When I brought the medicine into the bedroom, the scene before me made me freeze.

The wallpaper in our bedroom had all been changed to Rose's favorite pink.

"Who gave you permission to change this?"

I asked with a frown.

I hated anything related to the color red.

It always reminded me of the blood when my father's throat was cut, making me dizzy just looking at it.

Damien never allowed this color in the house, and even visiting guests would be reminded not to wear it.

"Damien put it up himself for me. You don't still think you're important, do you?"

She calmly stirred the medicine with a spoon, looking at me with disdain.

Then, pointing to a damaged battle suit in the corner, she continued, "Guess why he won't throw away that dirty piece of clothing even though he's a clean freak? Because it has my tears on it, carries my scent—it's his favorite smell."

I clenched my fists, my eyes cold.

"I guess you two deserve each other. Best of luck." After I mocked her.

She seemed a bit embarrassed, then turned angry.

"Why act so high and mighty? You and your Beta father are the same, thinking you're better than everyone else. But didn't he end up killed by the vampires I lured in!"

My heart almost stopped beating.

Blood rushed backward through my body, leaving me ice cold.

"You lured them in?"

I asked in disbelief.

Only then did I remember that a wolfless Omega's blood is a natural lure.

"Yes. He refused to let our family join the Northern Wolf Pack, saying we were deserters from the Southern Wolf Pack, disloyal people. Without killing him, how could we directly meet the Alpha and gain sympathy to get accepted?"

After saying this, she suddenly laughed.

"He screamed in agony at the time, and in the end, he was begging... please don't tear my throat, I still want to tell my daughter how much I love her!"

She mimicked my father's painful, twisted voice from his final moments.

Overwhelming rage clouded my judgment.

I rushed forward and grabbed her throat tightly.

"You ruthless bitch, what right did you have to take my father's life!"
