Chapter 2

James shot me an annoyed look and said, "Mom and Dad are giving you money, just take it. Didn't you say you were feeling sick and asked me for money to go to the hospital? Why are you putting on an act?"

Mom and Dad nodded in agreement beside him, their eyes full of disgust as they looked at me.

I lifted my head to look at the three of them, a trace of helplessness in my eyes.

They were supposed to be my closest family, but now they were all giving me the cold shoulder.

Just because Susan ruined her legs saving me when we were kids, does that mean I have to spend my whole life repaying her?

However, the truth is that Susan was jealous of me back then and tried to push me down the stairs.

After I managed to dodge her, she fell down herself and hurt her legs.

How did this become my fault?

Sometimes I think it would've been better if I were the one who fell.

If I had died from the fall, maybe I wouldn't be suffering like this now.

Later, I met James. He was a very polite gentleman.

He would often walk me home thoughtfully and buy me necklaces I liked.

But when I came home happy, wearing the necklace, Susan walked over with a cold look and snatched it away.

She had countless necklaces like that, but she just had to take away my only one.

After James and I got married, I thought I could escape from her.

But instead, she became even more bold about stealing my husband and taking everything from me.

I went home to complain to my parents, hoping they would stand up for me.

But Mom and Dad always firmly sided with Susan, helping her constantly blame me, saying I should give in to Susan.

Even James looked at me with disgust, accusing me of being like a jealous, crazy person.

No matter what I did, they wouldn't care about me or even look at me.

Over the years, I really did become mentally ill.

Seeing that I stopped talking, Mom and Dad bought Susan all kinds of princess dresses and jewelry.

Since I got married, I've been wearing the same clothes all the time.

Susan looked at me like a princess, full of provocation.

Later, her behavior got even worse.

When we attended a party hosted by Johnson Corporation, Susan moved to the center of the stage.

James gently pushed her wheelchair. They looked like a pair of elegant swans.

People around saw how close they were and looked at me with sympathy.

Suddenly, Susan pushed Mina Johnson, the daughter of Johnson Corporation, with a vicious look on her face.

Susan shouted loudly, "How dare you mock me for being a cripple in a wheelchair!"

I looked up and saw Susan push Mina hard.

Mina lost her balance and knocked over the champagne tower behind her.

Her face and arms were covered with cuts from the glass shards, and she kept screaming while clutching herself.

Miss Mina was the most beloved daughter of the Johnson family.

She had just returned from studying abroad, so they wanted to throw this party to introduce her to everyone.

Susan didn't know who she was, which is why she pushed her.

I wanted to go over, but it was too late.

Susan was quickly surrounded by people.

Mr. Johnson saw his daughter injured and immediately announced that Susan would be kicked out of the party.

And the two families would never work together again.

Susan was kicked out in disgrace, crying nonstop.

Mom and Dad sat beside her, constantly comforting her.

To prevent the Johnson family from continuing to target Susan, Mom and Dad were willing to give up thirty percent of the company's profits.

But the Johnson family wouldn't accept that at all. They only had one demand.

That Susan personally go apologize in person.

When Mom and Dad heard this, they wanted to refuse. How could they bear to let their daughter be wronged?

But suddenly they thought of me.

So Mom and Dad asked me to apologize in Susan's place.

"Don't forget that Susan ruined her legs for you when you were little. You owe her this."

"You'll just get scolded a few times, what's the big deal!"

I listened to Mom and Dad say this so casually. If it's no big deal, why do I have to go?

Johnson Corporation was known for being tough.

James knew about this too, but he still supported me going to apologize in Susan's place.

Because in his heart, Susan was the most important.

I looked at the four of them standing together, close like a real family.

I could only laugh at myself, "Fine, I'll go!"

As I walked out the door, I saw Susan looking at me smugly.

She seemed to be saying this family would always be hers, and I was just an outsider.

Behind me came the sound of their laughter. I hung my head and threw my things into the trash can.

These were all the gifts James had given me since we got together.

Now, I don't need them anymore.

As I stood up, I felt dizzy.

The moment I fell to the ground, I saw a stretch Lincoln driving over.

People from the Johnson family had arrived.

I suddenly smiled.

This was fine. From now on, I wouldn't have to take the blame for Susan anymore.

Death didn't seem like such a scary thing after all.

Just let me die out here. I don't have a home anyway.
