Ele sorriu também, então a virou para encarar o céu novamente. Juntos, estavam dispostos a passar a noite e não apenas aquela noite, mas outras noites, enquanto durasse.

Thea reuniu toda a coragem que lhe restava depois de ontem. Ontem foi literalmente o pior dia de trabalho neste restaurante horrível. "Agora é Sr. Rowell para você." Ele disse, mas ela balançou a cabeça, aceitando a formalidade imediatamente.

"Ela começou tudo. Cassandra me acusou de algo que eu nunca pensaria em fazer e depois mentiu para você." Thea disse a ele.

"Bem, eu não me importo com o que realmente aconteceu, mas ela me disse que te confrontou sobre você estar saindo com o namorado dela e você começou a gritar com ela, mas você começou a confusão primeiro e isso é tudo que eu sei."

Ela quase riu alto. Pelo amor de Deus, aquela garota é uma mentirosa e uma vadia barata. Andrew nem estava namorando ela.

"Eu pensei que você fosse pelo menos madura o suficiente para levar sua briga de gato para outro lugar, mas você decidiu fazer isso aqui, na frente do meu restaurante! Você vê a mim e meu pequeno império como nada?" Ele gritou.

"Não, não, de jeito nenhum, Sr. Rowell. Você precisa ouvir meu lado da história. Cassandra está mentindo-"

"Eu já ouvi o suficiente para me deixar louco. Apenas vá embora, Thea, e não volte." Mark disse a ela.

"Eu preciso desse emprego, Sr. Rowell... Eu imploro. Eu não fiz nada de errado, por favor, não me mande embora." Thea implorou.

"Você deveria ter pensado nisso antes de bater em uma moça inocente bem na frente da minha loja! Não preciso dizer isso de novo. Saia do meu escritório, imediatamente!" Mark gritou e a moça saiu correndo do escritório, chorando.

Ela pegou sua bolsa onde a havia deixado antes de sair pela porta dos fundos. O que ela faria agora? Por que ela?

Thea passou a mão pelo cabelo em frustração antes de chamar um táxi e ir para casa.

O jovem abotoou a manga da camisa para se preparar para o trabalho, pois já estava atrasado. Ele se recusou a olhar novamente para a mulher que estava deitada em sua cama. Toda vez que o fazia, lembrava que eles não eram nada como ele tinha antes.

"Ashton, querido, já está pronto para o trabalho? Por que não me acordou?" A mulher disse suavemente, mas ele a ignorou, pegou o paletó e saiu do quarto.

"Bem, podemos jantar fora juntos?" Ela perguntou e ele assentiu.

"Claro, vou te buscar às cinco." Ele disse antes de sair.

Ela sorriu para si mesma e sentou-se para tomar seu café da manhã. Os lábios de Maria formaram uma linha fina. No entanto, ela decidiu que era melhor não mostrar nenhuma emoção em relação ao casal.

Ela considerava Ashton como um filho e o entendia muito bem. Ela também sabia que o relacionamento deles estava por um fio desde o minuto em que a mãe dele o forçou a pedir Claire em casamento na frente de todos.
