I changed sides to other, hugging myself with the sheets to try and subdue this pain that came but would not go away. I lay down on the floor, believing the cold, hard tiles could grant me some sort of relief, but I was hurting even worse than before.

I sat alone in my office, the weight of the world bearing down on me. I drummed my fingers mindlessly against the oak of the desk, but the sensation was lost on me; I hadn't felt a thing for months.
